Outlook XP Secure Email Setup

1. Open Outlook XP. 

2. From the menu bar, select Tools > E-mail Accounts.

3. Under E-mail, select Add a new e-mail account.

4. Under Server Type, select IMAP.

5. Enter your name and Duke email address.

6. Enter your Duke NetID and password.

7. In the Incoming mail server (IMAP) field, enter imap.duke.edu.

8. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field, enter smtp.duke.edu.

9. Click the More Settings button.

Configure your account to use SSL

1. Click the Advanced tab.  For the Incoming mail (IMAP) server, select the box labeled This server requires a secure connection (SSL). For the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server, select the box labeled This server requires a secure connection (SSL) and than manually change the port to 587.

2. Click OK.

3. Check the information in the next window and click Next.

4. Click Finish.
