1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird
2. Choose Tools and select Account Settings...

3. Click on Add Account on the lower left-hand corner of the menu.

4. Choose Email Account and click Next.

5. Enter your name and email address in the spaces provided and click Next.

6. Choose IMAP for the account type. In the Incoming Server field, enter imap.duke.edu. Click Next.

7. Enter your NetID in the Incoming User Name field. Click Next.

8. Enter a name for the account, for example, Duke Mail.

9. On the next screen, click Finish.

10. Click on Server Settings in the left menu. and check the box labeled Use Secure Connection (SSL).

11. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the left menu and you will see the screen change to Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings. Select Edit.

12. Check the box labeled Use name and password and the radio button SSL. Please note that the port will change from 25 to 465. Manually change the port to 587, enter your NetID in the UserName field and select OK.
